What is UNS C63000?
C63000 (UNS C63000) is a high-strength American wrought nickel-aluminium bronze. Its strength, fatigue life, shock resistance and outstanding anti-galling behaviour under load make it the world standard for aerospace landing-gear bushes and bearings, as well as marine fasteners, gears, thrust washers and control bushes.
Should you specify UNS C63000?
Specify C63000 when the duty is heavily loaded sliding or bearing contact. Its anti-galling behaviour against mating steel components under load is the property most engineers actually buy it for, and it holds that behaviour at both cryogenic and moderately elevated temperatures.
Against C63200, C63000 runs higher in strength and hardness but lower in specified elongation, and its seawater corrosion performance is good rather than best-in-class. That makes it the better bush and bearing material and the weaker choice for a part sitting permanently in flowing seawater.
Against CW307G, the European grade it closely mirrors, the difference is almost entirely paperwork: CW307G is called up by EN standards, C63000 by ASTM and AMS. Pick whichever your drawing references and keep the certification consistent through the build.
Plan for the machining rate. C63000 has a machining index of around 20 against free-machining brass at 100, so quoting it on brass cycle times will understate cost.
Best for aerospace landing-gear bushes, bearings and heavily loaded anti-galling duty to ASTM or AMS documentation.

Overview
An American nickel-aluminium bronze whose unique combined properties of high strength, good fatigue, excellent corrosion resistance in sea water, non-sparking and wear properties make it a popular choice across the whole spectrum of industry.
It has very high anti-galling properties under load and is used on a world basis for aerospace landing gear bushes and bearings where its strength, fatigue, wear properties, shock resistance and corrosion resistance are well proven.
