Aluminium Bronze Forgings from a UK manufacturer
Using the very latest process technology, Copper Alloys Ltd can take a cast product and make it stronger, tougher and longer lasting by working the metal. With piece weights up to 20 tonnes, forged products are a cost-effective route to wrought nickel aluminium bronze.
Working the metal produces a fine, equiaxed grain structure with extremely consistent properties through the section. That structure allows volumetric inspection by ultrasonics, which costs a fraction of the radiographic examination required for cast equivalents, and is one of the reasons DEF STAN 02-833 superseded the cast DEF STAN 02-747 for UK naval components.
Forged rings and discs are routinely supplied for valve bodies, seats, flanges, gear blanks and heavily loaded bearing components, either as forged stock or as finish-machined parts.
