What is UNS C63200?
C63200 (UNS C63200) is an American wrought nickel-aluminium bronze supplied to ASTM B150 in the quench-and-tempered condition. It offers high strength, non-sparking behaviour and excellent seawater corrosion resistance, and is used for naval fasteners, seawater valves, pump bodies, wear plates and weapons-handling equipment.
Should you specify UNS C63200?
Specify C63200 when the component is going into a US naval or ASTM-governed supply chain. It is the grade written into MIL-B-24059 and decades of US submarine build documentation, so it clears approval with the least friction on those programmes.
Against C63000, the other common American grade, C63200 trades a little peak strength for better corrosion behaviour in seawater and higher elongation - the ASTM minimum is 18% against 10% for C63000. Choose C63200 where the part sits in flowing seawater; choose C63000 where bearing strength and hardness matter more.
Against DEF STAN 02-833, chemistry and performance overlap closely, but the acceptance route differs. Do not substitute one for the other on a defence order without written customer agreement, even where the property table looks interchangeable.
The main constraint is heat treatment: the quench-and-temper cycle that gives C63200 its corrosion performance has to be done properly and evidenced, which makes mill-sourced material with a full test report worth more than the cheapest bar on the market.
Best for US naval seawater service where ASTM B150 and MIL-B-24059 acceptance and high ductility are required.

Overview
Also known as C 63200, C632, Nickel Aluminium Bronze C63200, ASTM B150 C63200.
An American nickel-aluminium bronze with a unique combination of properties resulting in high strength, good fatigue and excellent corrosion resistance in sea water.
C63200 benefits from a quench and temper heat treatment to enhance mechanical properties. The heat treatment was developed to maximise the corrosion resistance in sea water where it is used extensively in marine defence applications. Its non-sparking and wear properties also make it an excellent choice for weapon handling systems.
This nickel-aluminium bronze alloy has a proven track record, having been incorporated in the US submarine build program for many decades, and has now been used for wider applications within the commercial marine and petrochemical industries.
This is a wrought alloy that benefits from extreme consistency in properties, fine uniform grain structure and low cost volumetric inspection. Representative test pieces are taken giving accurate analysis of properties from material to component.
